Use of Alvin or Jason to recover inactive portions of seafloor massive sulfide deposits on the Endeavour Segment of the Juan de Fuca Ridge both within the active Main Endeavour Field and in locations where activity ceased long ago. |

Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Requires use of deep diving occupied vehicle (Alvin) or Remotely Operated
Vehicle (ROV Jason), accurate navigation to find known locations of deposits on
the seafloor, manipulator to recover samples, bioboxes to put samples in to
prevent spalling of weathered surfaces. |
