Summary of Field Work: |
1. Collect ichthyoplankton from previously sampled waters of the N. GOM (27-28N; 88-92 W) to assess the ecological consequences of the DWHOS on deepwater and epipelagic fish communities (sampling gears used at all 48 stations during the daytime: neuston (surface) and bongo nets (500m)) 2. Collect samples to characterize trophic relationships of pelagic organisms 3. Sample species for genetic studies 4. Perform deepwater drops at night using a twin net (500m) for qualitative sampling of fishes for natural tracer studies |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Side and rear A-frame, connective cable for CTD (mounted on bongo net tow cable), 50-70lb weight, freezer for samples |
