Summary of Field Work: |
Vertical lowering of narrow beam, high-frequency acoustic transmitter/receiver on ship's hydrowire. Also deploy acoustic transmitters and receivers from the ship at depths of 2-10 meters to record or transmit to lowered units. Explore different combinations of frequencies and data rates. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Ship's hydrowire without CTD rosette and without communications. |

Short Description of Op Area
for use in schedules: |
SanDiego Trough |
Description of Op Area: |
Within the San Diego Trough to the west of the Coronado Escarpment in water depths of 1000 m or more. Operations to be done within a few miles of 32 39.0N, 117 35.0 W. Vessel will drift during lowering, so actual location will be selected to maximize time of lowering before the systems have to be raised and the vessel repositioned to stay within the San Diego Trough. |
Op Area Size/Dia.: |
Approximately 4 miles from center point. |
