Summary of Field Work: |
After thorough laboratory assessment (2020), the developed sensor will be tested in field tests (June-September 2021).
Once the response of the dissolved gas sensor is verified for all gases involved, the system will be used in a total of two field tests: (I) in Hood Canal (WA) aboard the RV Robertson, and (II) on UNOLS vessel in an open ocean OMZ. A survey of the Gulf of Mexico Hypoxic Zone ('deadzone') is envisioned. Shipboard measurements during this cruise will be made using two sensors, one on the rosette CTD to obtain vertical profiles in the ocean, and the other plumbed into the underway seawater system to map spatial variability along the cruise track. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
CTD must have data uplink capability |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
we are looking for a survey opportunity with spatial variability of N2O.
Update: Fastlane # associated with this proposal is 7888621. |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
** require rosette 911 CTD with data uplink capability, minimum 12 Niskin bottles. Should have UNOLS supplied altimeter, SBE43 DO sensor, Wetlabs ECO FLNTU, and ideally SUNA. User supplied sensors will be Pro-Oceanus N2 sensor (RS232 on Data Uplink) ** appropriate frequency ADCP for water depth in operating region required
