Summary of Field Work: |
1) Density and total abundance for Red Snapper on large expanses of unknown/unconsolidated bottom (e.g., open mud, sand, ephemeral mud features) and hard bottom (bank) habitats in the NGoM will be estimated using towed camera assessments 2) Simultaneous acoustic surveys using a Towfish-mounted echosounder will verify fish counts from the towed camera assessments 3) Zooplankton collections using a paired 61cm bongo (max depth 200m) will be conducted to assess ichthyoplankton assemblages at sampling locations 4) One science day will be spent testing a MOCNESS (Multiple Opening and Closing Net and Environmental Sampling System) |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Side and rear A-frame, connective cable for MOCNESS (rear A-frame), 50-70lb weight, freezer for samples |
