Summary of Field Work: |
Area of operations: Off San Francisco (34.75N, 125.5W). Deployment/recovery of gliders, Wave Gliders, floats. Deployment of drifters. Use of Underway CTD and/or towed undulating platform (like SeaSoar). Fieldwork coordinated with aircraft measurements to study small scale eddies by sampling in 50km-by-50km area. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
Targeting April and September 2021 |
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Experiment involves aircraft measurements that cannot be made in fog. Scientific goals require winter/spring. These two factors drive dates (April and September). Ocean or Global Class vessel is fine. |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
We will want to do acoustic tracking of floats-- I understand the new Ocean Class vessels are well equipped for this.
