Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

  Project Information
Project Title: Time-series particle flux measurements in the Sargasso Sea Project Status: Submitted
Principal Investigator: Maureen H. Conte, BIOS Project Institution: BIOS
Project ID: 106009 Version #: 1
Date Submitted: 8/23/2018 5:35:00 PM Created By: Maureen H. Conte
Date Last Modified: 4/5/2019 10:56:00 AM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NSF/OCE/CO - 1829885 - Funded
Summary of Field Work: The ship time is to support the Oceanic Flux Program time series, a deep ocean sediment trap mooring time-series. The mooring is turned around every six months.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Ship capable of recovering deep ocean moorings. In addition to the mooring work, the ship must support associated sampling activities: full ocean depth CTDs, GoFlo bottle casts on user-supplied clean wire, Hydrowire casts and also have lab facilities to provide sample preparation under clean air (ege laminar flow hood), chemical work (fume hood) and climate controlled space for servicing mooring instrumentation (e.g. sediment trap and pump controllers, MicroCATs, ADCP)
