Summary of Field Work: |
I am proposing an observational and modeling study to understand the thermal and hydrologic regime in the area of Pythia's Oasis, Cascadia margin, offshore central Oregon. Field work will consist of using a multi-penetration heat flow probe operated by Oregon State University. I am requesting 2 days of extra ship time associated with D. Kelley cruise R/V Atlantis cruise, September 2019. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
(1) Multi-penetration heat flow probe operated and maintained by Oregon State University (2) Ship board requirements for probe include 9/16 trawl wire with tensiometer, 12-kHz pinger and analog/digital 12-kHz display (3) Naviagation -P-code GPS and DP (4) 3.5 -kHz profiling |

Explain Instrumentation or Capability requirements that could affect choice of ship in scheduling. |
We will be using multipenetration heat flow probe maintained at Oregon State University as part of the Coring Facility. The probe is tethered to the ship with the large diameter trawl wire. Dynamic positioning is needed for station keeping.
