Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Project Title: Near Inertial Shear and KInetic energy in the North Atlantic ( NISKIN) Project Status: Submitted
Principal Investigator: Jennifer A. MacKinnon, SIO Project Institution: SIO
Project ID: 106343 Version #: 1
Date Submitted: 1/19/2019 12:38:00 PM Created By: Jennifer A. MacKinnon
Date Last Modified: 6/13/2019 3:52:00 PM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NAVY/ONR - NONE - Funded
Summary of Field Work: Ship-board measurements (towed body, ADCP), short drifter deployments, glider launch/recovery designed to look at wind-generated near-inertial internal waves in the North Atlantic, in the vicinity of Greenland/Iceland. This is being submitted per request of our ONR program manager, Dr. Terri Paluszkiewicz. This is a new DRI that will involve fieldwork over the next several years, but she would like the potential for a "pilot" experiment in spring 2018.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Global research class vessel.
