Summary of Field Work: |
Reconnaissance and assessment of instrumentation moored off Kauai. The shore cable is known to have a fault. This cruise will locate a section of cable further seaward, raise the cable to the surface and bring the cable on board for assessment of the cable and the attached instrumentation, and then release the cable. Location is roughly 3 miles off-shore of NW coast of Kauai, near PMRF. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Stable ship with DP: i.e., Kilo Moana. ROV for visual location and identification of cable in about 100m of water. Standard winches and sheaves to pull cable up. Deck power, dry lab. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
Bruce Howe, UH-Manoa, may have time on his ACO cruise. Bruce is very familiar with this cable and associated instrumentation. |
