STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. Description of Repeating cruise requirements: This project investigates the effect of Mississippi River discharge to the Louisiana shelf and slope. The repeating cruise has to be scheduled in the winter at the end of the low discharge period (preferably end of November (departure on Nov. 16).
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations:
It is important to catch the return of the Mississippi River discharge to baseflow conditions, typically in mid-July. It is also important to repeat the cruise during the Winter (November-January period) at the end of the low discharge conditions. We have long experience with the RV Savannah crew for deployments of our benthic landers in shallow and deep waters. Their expertise is key to the success of the research objectives.
