Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Summary of Field Work: This request is for 1 day of Jason time added onto the Regional Cabled Array Maintenance cruise summer 2020 to conduct seafloor survey work with the ROV Jason of the novel Pythias Oasis site, which was not completed due to a delay in getting a required Sentry high resolution bathymetric map of the site during the Pythias Oasis 2019 expedition. The main goal is to survey a long linear depression on Pythias Ridge that was not surveyed by Jason in 2019, but which clearly shows up as a major feature on the high resolution bathymetry. In addition, a "moat" surrounding a significant collapse zone will be surveyed.
Summary of Facility Requirements: This work will require use of the remotely operated vehicle Jason that will be hosted on the R/V Revelle required for the RCA work.
