Summary of Field Work: |
This project is in association with the NASA-funded InVADER effort that has 2 days added onto the OOI-Regional Cabled Array cruise. BOEM has indicated they will fund this, but due to COVID-19, the 2020 request was withdrawn and the field program to 2021. The work will include chemical characterization of active hydrothermal chimneys in the ASHES hydrothermal field at the summit of Axial Seamount. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
Use of the R/V Thompson and ROV Jason for one field day in the ASHES hydrothermal field. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
The 1-day program will be associated with InVADER, at the same location as the InVADER work. No other requirements as requirements for InVADER are the same as for BOEM. |
