Summary of Field Work: |
This work will involve seagoing acceptance trials, commissioning, calibration and demonstration of all of the scientific sensors, instruments, networks and systems aboard R/V Roger Revelle following the restoration of these systems on board subsequent to the vessel's just-completed Midlife Refit. Work will be conducted in the California Bight offshore San Diego, using established calibration areas in environmental settings appropriate for the sensors being operated. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
R/V Roger Revelle, its installed instrumentation, appropriate technical support, a capable crew, and a star to steer her by. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
Seagoing operations will require successful completion of pre-embarkation COVID-19 protocol by all hands, as per SIO policy and UNOLS guidelines. |

Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
This project requires R/V Roger Revelle because we're exercising the newly re-installed scientific systems on that vessel following Midlife Refit. The dates are constrained by the timing of the vessel completing its outfitting, and its first planned scientific mission. |
