Summary of Field Work: |
This effort will conduct detailed characterization of node sites for the Ocean Observatories Initiative at Axial Seamount on the Juan de Fuca Ridge and at Hydrate Ridge on the Oregon Margin in preparation for installation of the Regional Scale Nodes . The project will make use of the ROV Jason to optimally characterize sites for secondary cable and infrastructure deployment and to determine precise sensor locations. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
This project requires use of the ROV Jason and EM300 system with the R/V Thompson |

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
|
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
We request the Thompson with use of Jason because of the ships extra berthing availability. This is necessary so that we can maximize both science and student participation. This cruise will be surveying the extension cable routes for the regional scale nodes. |
