Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Project Title: Developing a Seafloor Sediment Multicorer With a Real-time Camera System for US Oceanographic Multidisciplinary Research Project Status: Submitted
Principal Investigator: Daniel J. Fornari, WHOI Project Institution: WHOI
Project ID: 102638 Version #: 3
Date Submitted: 8/11/2010 12:22:00 PM Created By: Daniel J. Fornari
Date Last Modified: 2/25/2015 1:39:00 PM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NSF/OCE/IPS - 1061794 - Funded
Summary of Field Work: Testing new multicorer with camera and CTD capability on both CTD 0.322" sea cable and fiber optic cable
Summary of Facility Requirements: RV Melville and UNOLS 0.322" CTD cable and winch and mid-ships overboarding and fiber optic cable and portable FO winch to test FO multicorer system too
Summary of other requirements and comments: WHOI-MISO facility instrumentation integrated with new multicorer
NOTE - THIS IS A REQUEST FOR 2012 SHIP TIME TO MOVE THE 5 DAYS SCHEDULED IN 2011 ON NEW HORIZON TO MELVILLE BECAUSE NEW HORIZON CANNOT ACCOMMODATE EITHER THE CTD OR FIBEROPTIC CABLE REQUIREMENTS BECAUSE OF VERTICAL CLEARANCE LIMITATIONS - SEE EMAILS BETWEEN PIS AND SIO AND UNOLS AND NSF
