Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning ( Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

  Project Information
Project Title: International South-East Pacific Investigation of Reducing Environments,
Completion of Chile Triple Junction Vent Mapping
Project Status: Submitted
Principal Investigator: Donna K. Blackman, SIO Project Institution: SIO
Project ID: 103183 Version #: 1
Date Submitted: 12/14/2011 11:34:00 AM Created By: Donna K. Blackman
Date Last Modified: 12/14/2011 11:34:00 AM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NOAA/OE - NONE - Funded
OTHER - NONE - Pending
Summary of Field Work: Sentry mapping of probable vents and possibly a known seep. Modest sampling of associated fauna/sediments at/near the Chile Triple Junction. This would complete work begun on MV1003 when loss of ABE precluded full implementation of cruise plan.
Summary of Facility Requirements: 4-5 days on-site time
AUV Sentry
multi-core with video (0.68 winch cable)
bio tow net
dredge as fallback option
Summary of other requirements and comments: aim to insert our short project into currently scheduled transit between Punta Arenas and Valparaiso.
