The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. Summary of Field Work: Month-long cruises to survey atmospheric and upper ocean conditions across the shelf near Duck, NC out across the Gulf Stream (Oct/Nov 2015) and in the upwelling region off southern California (Jul/Aug 2017).

Fieldwork will consist of coordinated surveys by two ships, AUV and Aircraft (CIRPAS Twin Otter). Ship-based work will include AUV deployment/recovery, wirewalker mooring deployments with surface buoys with atmospheric measurements, ship-based atmospheric measurements (rawindsondes, tethered balloon measurements, ceilometer, wind lidar) and upper ocean measurements (CTD, ADCP, microstructure profiler). AUVs to be deployed/recovered includer subsurface gliders and surface wavegliders.
Summary of Facility Requirements: We will need ship's CTD/ADCP. A frame and deck space for mooring deployment/recoveries, and AUV deployment/recoveries. Deck space and/or mounting locations for atmospheric sensors.
Summary of other requirements and comments: Coordination with CIRPAS Twin Otter Aircraft for atmosphere-ocean surveys and tethered balloon atmospheric measurements made from the ship.
