Summary of Field Work: |
Physical oceanographic study of the inner shelf off Point Sal, California. Water depths from 15 to 100 m. Install oceanographic moorings and tow undulating vehicles. Part of an ONR DRI on Inner Shelf dynamics. In coordination with another large UNOLS vessel installing moorings and using radar (Sally Ride?), shore-based and aircraft measurements. |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
No facility requirements. |
Summary of other requirements and comments: |
In coordination with another large UNOLS vessel, presumably the Sally Ride requested by John Colosi and Joe Calantoni |

Other Ship(s): |
In coordination with large vessel installing moorings and using radar to observe surface patterns. Sally Ride requested by Colosi and Calantoni. We request three ship measurement intervals: 10 days to deploy instruments and survey; 10 days to turnaround instrument and survey approximately one month later; and 5 days to recover instruments approximately one month later. |

Description of Repeating cruise requirements: |
We request three ship measurement intervals: 10 days to deploy instruments and survey; 10 days to turnaround instrument and survey approximately one month later; and 5 days to recover instruments approximately one month later. |
Justification/Explanation for ship choice, dates,
conflicts, number of days & multi-ship operations: |
Moorings will be deployed and left in place for 1-month sampling periods. We would like to recover and turn them around mid-way through the 2 month study. We will do towed, undulating vehicle surveys after the initial mooring deployment and the mid-experiment turnaround. |
