STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. Summary of Field Work: Monthly physical and biogeochemical time-series sampling at the Bermuda Atlantic Time-series Study (BATS) site in the subtropical North Atlantic Ocean (NA06). Operations consist of 10-20 CTD casts profiling to full ocean depth (4,500 m), deployment of free drifting arrays (e.g., sediment traps and primary production), and zooplankton/phytoplankton tows each cruise as part of the BATS project. The science compliment is typically 8-12 scientific staff, depending on collaborative projects.
Summary of Facility Requirements: Each BATS cruise will be 5 days duration using the R/V Atlantic Explorer, and utilizing all the facilities the ship currently possesses (e.g., winches, CTD rosette, underway systems, etc).

The R/V Atlantic Explorer (being located in Bermuda) is the ideal vessel to successfully conduct the BATS time-series project.

A demobilization day and mobilization day is included for the port of San Juan, and allows for transfer of personnel, equipment and samples.
