Ship Request

STR Management has moved to MFP

The US Academic Research Fleet is moving to Marine Facilities Planning (MFP) for scheduling initially and eventually cruise planning.

For all NEW or RESUBMITTED Projects/Ship Time Requests, go to https://mfp.us and create a new SME. Some STRs for projects starting in 2022 and beyond have already been moved to Marine Facilities Planning (mfp.us). Check your MFP Science Portal for any projects that might already be moved. If you need to make edits to projects that begin in 2022 and beyond, please contact mfp@unols.org for assistance. Be sure to indicate the Project and STR IDs that you would like to edit. For more information on getting into MFP, see the More Information button below.

Project Title: A Flipping Tiltmeter for Marine Geodesy: Development and Testing at Axial Seamount on the OOI Cabled Array Project Status: Submitted
Principal Investigator: William S. Wilcock, UW Project Institution: UW
Project ID: 105152 Version #: 1
Date Submitted: 2/2/2016 2:44:00 PM Created By: William S. Wilcock
Date Last Modified: 7/28/2016 1:17:00 PM URI Serial #: None
Funding Agencies: NSF/OCE/OTIC - 1634103 - Funded
Summary of Field Work: Deploy a new design of tiltmeter on Axial Seamount attached to the OOI Cabled observatory.
Summary of Facility Requirements: 1 day added to OOI cabled array Global/Jason ROV servicing cruise
Summary of other requirements and comments: As per the guidelines on the OOI website (http://oceanobservatories.org/information-for-researchers/) and a discussion with the cabled array operators, this a request for 1 day of ship time to be added to the OOI cable array servicing cruise in 2017.

It is estimated that attaching the tiltmeter in 2017 will add about ~12 hours to this cruise as will recovering it in 2018 (or possibly at a later date). The requested day is therefore the combined time it is anticipated that deploying and recovering the instrument will take
