Summary of Field Work: |
Deployment of drifters and instrumented bottom tripods in the Columbia River Mouth. Drifting GPS-tracked wave-resolving buoys will be deployed in ebb and flood currents. Bottom tripods with velocity profilers, pressure and surface tracking sensors will be deployed in depths ranging from about 10 to 30 m. Additionally, ship-board ADCP and CTD surveys will be conducted to measure the vertical structure of currents and stratification. Other scientists participating in the cruise are Dr. Tim Janssen (Theiss Research) and Drs. Steve Elgar and Britt Raubenheimer (WHOI). |
Summary of Facility Requirements: |
A-frame and trawl whinch, crane, precision depth recorder, ADCP, CTD, Rigid inflatable boat. |
